22nd March 2008

A rough day. We have had high winds and snow showers plus sunny intervals. Almost like April except for the cool temperatures [3 deg C].
In one small sunny moment I dashed out and grabbed a picture of this tulip and our bench whose slats were casting interesting shadows.

Good Friday

These are sights found in a nearby street.
I wonder what the cups have been won for.
The wall has some graffiti of no interest.
And as for the caravan - no comment - and none needed.

Wednesday 19th March 2008 - Blandford Palladian Impressions

We stopped at Blandford en route to Bridport where we were to give a lecture. Here I took a fancy to all the triangles on the buildings. There were so many.

Motorcycle Abstracts

It amazes me what one can make of a mundane subject. I went out to find a topic for today and saw our neighbour and he had his machine standing on his driveway. I asked if I could photograph it close up. He was only too pleased. He even moved it to a more better angle for me. It is a 1000cc machine capable of 150mph. Anyway I took just 5 pictures. Then came home and played with them for a time. I especially liked the kaleidoscope blended versions [5, 6, 7 and 10]. I found that you need to boost the unsharp mask up to 250% to bring out fine details.

I have left some of the images as taken. Can you work out which of the other images started out like these?

Monday 17 March 2008

Monday a chilly day with only a little sun but no rain. Just round the corner I noticed some Tree Cutters at work. Here they are lowering a log.
House in infra red.

Sunday 16th March 2008

A day at an RPS talk from Will Cheung and Brian Beaney. Excellent stuff. At lunch I went out briefly and grabbed 2 shots before the battery ran out of a dog and his owner.
